The Power Of Few (2013) Film Review

Rated R For Violence, Language And Brief Drug Use.
1hr 36min/96min.
22 uses of the F-word.
The Power Of Few is an Intresting film, but one that never quite captures it's true potential. The film wants o be a gripping crime drama. For the first hour of the film, it is. But then the last Half hour loses it's interest. It's a film with multiple stories, with different characters that interlock with each other. However, the film suffers from a really slow pace and the last half-hour being really dis-interesting. But I liked it. It's a different type of crime movie, like Pulp Fiction With a different story featuring new or interlocking characters.

I don't want to get into the stories because it would take too long, but here's the basic gist. The first story has a delinquent teenager go to the store to buy baby medicine, which he intends to rob the store of. The Second story is just about a couple's relationship tha ends in sadness. The Third features Christian Slater and his partner go after a drug dealer to take him down. The fourth just follows Two homeless guys, one of them played by Christopher Walken. The Last feature two thugs, going after someone who is planing on testifying on their firend. All of this is being narrated by a girl named Few.

The film has some terrific stories and some great suspense. The first and third stories are the best ones. The first one excells at suspense and the third one excells at the high frenticism and a really good performance from Christian Slater. The film has the right idea in mind, and if the movie had just these to stories, it would have been great. But due to flaws in the film, it can only be conidered decent.

The film suffers from a lot of things. 1, The film has an incredibly slow pace, which is not good for a movie like this. 2, The last two stories don't have a whole lot going for them. 3, The film's ending doesn't make a whole ot of sense. I won't spoil it, but the payoff isn't very good. However I do recommend it as a very low matinee. It is a decent popcorn movie, just not one to rush out and see.
