I was completely unsure of what to watch today, indeed I have a stupid amount of Horror films, but my favorites I want to watch much closer to Halloween night. However, today in Film class we had a viewing of an Alfred Hitchcock classic I'd heard of, but never seen; Rope.
The plot is very strange, two men murder one of their classmates and hide his body in a large trunk, they then invite people close to the man round for food and drink and set up a buffet on the man's "coffin". As they see it; it will be the perfect crime if they get away with it. It's very peculiar as it seems the main antagonist; Brandon, seems to get off on this risky endeavor.
The film is notorious because it all takes place in real time, it's also worth mentioning that there were very few cuts in the footage, in fact only 8 in all, this means that they actors were filmed for up to 10 minutes at a time before the shot was cut. When the film does cut the scenery outside the window changes also, a great way of portraying a day/night cycle. This was Hitchcock's first colour film.
4/5, not Hitchcock's best, but a very enjoyable film.
