R.I.P. Tom Clancy. Since I wanted to see the movie, Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit, it's VITAL for me to see the other Jack Ryan ones starting with the hunt for red october with Sean Connery and Alec Baldwin.
Directed by Die Hard's John McTiernan, I was hoping an explosive action/adventure movie. But I was wrong. This is a tense thriller with fatal moves and terrific acting.
The movie is excellent. This is the kind of film that intensifies more and more when you watch it. The beginning is soft and the ending is tense and action packed.
Sean Connery is fantastic as Marko Ramius. He has a psychologic mind and a few tricks up his sleeve. All of the acting is phenomenal. Alec Baldwin surprised me as Jack Ryan and the supporting cast including Jeffery Jones, James Earl Jones , Sam Neill, Tim Curry and Stellan Skarsgard are all top notch because of the directing by McTiernan.
This film does not have 0 action. The final 13 minutes of the movie is pure action and tense moments. The final fight is just pure awesome and the script is extremely well written.
This movie does not take much to get you sucked in into this world because McTiernan does the job perfectly. But the movie slows down at the beginning but otherwise, it's awesome.
4/5
