Natalie: "Fuck You!"
Ian: "We Already Played That Game."

Now this is a tough film for me to review. What this movie is, is a fan film, made by fans of, obviously, the Scream Franchise. Fan Films can be hit-or-miss. They can be surprisingly well done, or horribly, shoddily made. What these two, count 'em, two, directors have made, is a well made, yet horribly flawed, fan film.

The plot is relatively simple. If you've seen 1996's Scream, than you've seen this. Natalie(Lindsay McEwan) is like the Sidney Prescott of Scream, a bunch of her friends start dropping like flies by a mysterious man wearing the iconic Ghostface mask. Her, Ian(Jared Vollmann), Gwen(Claire Tsiporuka), Frankie(Ben Nissen) Apryl(Megan Vaccaro) and Shayne(Bryan Howard) try to stop the killer.

First, this has to be adressed, the voice of the killer is all over the place. Every time a line of dialouge is said, the killer changes accents. One point it's an American Accent, than it's a New Jersey accent. I don't think the directors took a close enough look at this. Some of the lines of dialouge feel incredibly forced, esspecially a line that's featured in the opening that, sorry to say, is hysterically bad. The killer is talking to one of his victim's on the phone, when the victim says something along the lines of "This is my movie, and I'm cutting it short." Just wow.

The acting feels a little stiff. Some people react oddly, they either react to incidents either too quickly or not react at all. People either overact or underact. Also, there seem to be audio problems. Characters, even up close, talk softly. This could be caused by 1 of 3 things. 1, there wasn't proper sound equipment involved, 2, they had right equipment but it wasn't working properly or 3, it gets overshadowed by the music. Lastly, I don't like how the writing follows too closely to Scream and also the reveal of the killer, not only feels forced, but predictable. When his motive is revealed, it feels so forced and contrived that, it looks like the filmmakers couldn't come up with a clever motive. But I can't be too harsh because these are High-Schoolers.

But, This film is not terrible. I absolutely love the performance of Lindsay McEwan. At Times, she really reminds of Neve Campbell. I was really impressed by the clean-cut editing, use of music and I was extremely impressed by the twist after a portion of the credits. Vollmann, one of the directors, gives a fantastic performance as well. This film was incredibly fun to watch and runs by at a brisk pace. They have announced that a sequel will be coming soon. Let's hope the filmmakers work on these issues. From the looks of it, they just might have.
