Legally Blonde 2 Red White & Blonde (2003) Film Review

Rated PG-13 For Some Sex-Related Humor.
1hr 35min/95min.

Watching Legally Blonde 2, I felt cheated. Here we have the potential to make a sequel that's true and faithful to the original film. Reese Witherspoon does come back as Elle Woods, the Law Student with a wonderfull personality.
What is Elle fighting for this time? Her dog Bruiser's birthmom is at an animal testing facility, that Elle is highly against. Later on in the film, we find out that her dog is gay.

Say what? On top of that, Elle's getting married to Luke Wilson's character from the first film. With a film that has so much going on, one of the stories is bound to be entertaining. But sadly not, for we have more important matters to attend to, like Elle's Friends and a few senators, doing a cheer for Bruiser and dog all around the world, making a complete ass of themselves in the middle of congress.

You see, the movie can't ever take it's time to focus on one plot. There are too many things going on to be in just one film. The movie lives in a fairy-tale occupied in Elle's brain, figuratively, not literally.

One is reminded of 1939's Mr. Smith Goes To Washington, only replace Jimmy Stewart, with Resse Witherspoon's ditzy character of Elle Woods. When she first comes to Washington, she is dressed like Jackie Kennedy, which is funny because they have nothing in common.

This movie feels like, how you would feel spending a day with a ditzy blonde. Not Elle Woods who you would love to spend time with. It's nice at first, the annoying by the end of the day. At least Witherspoon turns in a great performance.
